What are Early
Childhood CEUs?
What is the difference between in-service hours and Early Childhood CEUs.
Inservice hours are a licensing requirement from your state Department of Health and Human Services for child care providers. One inservice hour equals one clock hour of training. All of the sessions at the Tri-State Child Care Providers Conference meet Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota inservice requirements for child care providers.
A CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is another method of tracking professional development. The CEU is different from in-service or clock hours. One CEU is equivalent to 10 clock hours of training. There are 10 criteria that need to be met to award a CEU. The Early Childhood CEU meets the requirements for those working in an early childhood position and is nationally recognized. The CEUs awarded today may meet CEU requirements in other professional roles.
Most of you attending this
conference will
not need EC-CEUs, you will only need the in-service or clock hours to
renew
your child care license. The only people that need to acquire
the
Early Childhood CEUs are individuals that are in the process of
renewing their CDA-Child Development Associate credential,
which
is a national credential.
